(The Gentle Knight)
Poetry
Inspired by a character created by: Zander North
They call him Sir Noble
Or so he was named.
It was meant to be mean.
To cause him such shame.
You see, Sir Noble
Is a special Knight.
He does not like
To joust or fight.
He is not very tall
But mighty, still.
This loveable Knight
Cares how you feel.
A Knight of old
With rusted armor.
In all the land
Is quite a charmer.
Sir Noble grins
From ear to ear.
Is always friendly
Causing no fear.
As was the way
In Medieval time
A fellow Knight
Helped fight crime.
Sir Noble wanted
To be like the others.
He knew most` Knights
Were just like brothers.
But when they all
Would join a feast
Sir Noble felt
He was the least.
They would sit around
Exchanging stories.
Exciting adventures
From days of glory.
This different Knight
Had none to share.
He was teased a lot.
It felt so un-fair.
Why, he would wonder
Does “gentle” feel bad?
He needed an answer
And sought out his dad.
“Father, please tell me!
Am I a good Knight?”
“Of course, my son!”
“You don’t have to fight!”
“To be a hero
Takes more than grit.”
It takes courage and wisdom
Kindness and wit.”
“You my son
Have all of these.
You are your own Knight
And do as you please…"
“You are known for generosity
And Kindness to others.
You protect all strangers
Small children and mothers.”
The next time Sir Noble
Sat at the Knights table.
Surrounded by teasing
To smile, he was able.
While others were bragging
Sharing stories so grand
Sir Noble was happy
And gave a big hand.
He raised a glass
And made a toast.
“My fellow Knights,
I will not boast.”
“For you see,
I’ve learned this day
That for all Knights,
There is more than one way.”
“Be you gentle or strong,
Brave or meek,
To love yourself,
Should be what you seek.”
